Welcome golfers,

The 2025 season is upon us, as in the past the committee has tweaked a few important points and rules. Of course, first and foremost, the point of the golf league is to have fun and play competitive matches.  We encourage everyone to check the BOP league website as divisions have some team changes.  The committee again established each team’s handicap using data based on scores, course ratings and course slope that were played throughout the year.  We also observed the trending handicap for returning teams.  Conferences, divisions, team information and standings can be found on the BOP golf website.

2 conferences - PGA and Korn Ferry.  The league is set up with competitive divisions, playing against teams that have similar skill levels.  The stroke calculator is included on the website for reference.  This should help create strong matches as we enter the 2025 season.  The season will consist of 8 matches, 1 match vs. each team in your division.  If your division has more than 9 teams you will play an 8-team schedule determined by the committee so please reference your individual team page.  Divisions will have a point person from the committee to help answer questions and monitor the division to ensure everyone is on schedule to complete their matches before the last day of division matches, Sat.  Aug. 16th, 2025.  Playoffs for each conference will begin Mon.  Aug. 18th and continue until there is a final match.  We would again like to have a Ryder Cup around the 3rd week of Sept. so please mark your calendar as a reminder.  The Ryder cup event was well attended in 2024, thanks to all who came out to Hilldale to play.

Again, this is a league of active and retired firefighters and paramedics from the CFD.  No subs are allowed for matches unless there is an injury to a player who is laid up for an extended period or a promotion that has an extended period at the academy.  If a team is in need of a substitute, a member MUST notify their division point person ASAP.  At that time, a decision will be made for a substitute player and handicap adjustment if necessary.  As we have done throughout our careers at the firehouse, be mindful of each other when setting up matches.  Cooperation is dependent on all teams.  We understand schedules change; however, this is a golf league.  We all want to golf and have fun.  We want to avoid multiple cancellations.  If a match cannot be agreed upon then it should be brought to the attention of the division committee person.  The bottom line is it is up to each team to schedule the matches.  A few points and dates will be handed out to each team.  Good luck, hit it long if not straight and think birdies.

Team payouts - top 4 teams in ea. division of each conference at the end of the regular season and top 2 total birdies in each division at the end of the regular season.

Season begins Apr. 1st and ends Aug. 16th.

Playoff matches begin after Aug. 18th and will continue to a final match by Oct.

All playoff teams from each division will be set into a playoff bracket for each conference determined by total points, wins, and birdies and distributed by the committee.

PGA - Courses need to be between 6100 and 6500 yards.  The home team will determine which color tee box will be used.  If it is a combo course, you can play it.  If not and the yardage needs to be adjusted, the visiting team will determine the hole and adjust tee box to use on the individual hole(s) to meet the required yardage.

Korn Ferry - Courses need to be between 5800 and 6100 yards.  The home team will determine which color tee box will be used.  If it is a combo course, you can play it.  If not and the yardage needs to be adjusted, the visiting team will determine the hole and adjust tee box to use on the individual hole(s) to meet the required yardage.

Please review the RULES prior to beginning your season. It is the responsibility of each team to understand the rules prior to their first match.
